"Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go." ~E.L. Doctorow

Writing is a process. As teachers and as students, we constantly need to revise, revisit and rethink our work. While we will never create the perfect  piece, when we are reflective in our writing, we can achieve something that is as close to perfection as possible.

This site contains pieces of my writing that I have done both as a teacher and as a student. I chose to include the pieces I included for various reasons, ranging from the pride I felt when I did it, to what I learned from the process and what I can take away from the process in order to teach my future students.

I have also included reflections for each piece. I feel that reflection is something that is not stressed enough in secondary English Language Arts classrooms, but from personal experience, one can learn the most from reflecting on their processes. Reflections foster students to think about their growth and progress both as a writer and as a person, which to me, is what English Language Arts is all about.
